October 2 – 15, 2019
Our Japan Sights, Culture and Cuisine Tour starts in Tokyo and continues on as we reach the southern city of Hiroshima. Experience stops into some of the most famous designated World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Visit Kyoto’s 1200 years of history and culture in such places as Nijo Castle, a former Tokugawa era shogun’s residence, and the gold leaf covered Golden Pavilion. We’ll visit Takayama, known as “Little Kyoto” and see the preserved historical structures and environment…Mingle with the locals at the historical thatched roofed village of Shirakawa-go. As well, we will visit Kenroku Garden, one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan.
The tour features the various regional cuisines of these areas for a truly unique travel experience!

October 2 – TOKYO – Arrival
Arrival into Tokyo airport. Meet our airport representative after clearing airport formalities. Transfer to our hotel, Grand Prince New Takanawa. Balance of day free to get caught up with jet lag.
October 3 – TOKYO – City tour (B,L,D)
Today we will visit Tsukiji outer market and the Ginza shopping district. Experience a hands- on opportunity to make your own sushi with the guidance of a sushi chef. We will also visit Imperial Palace, Kappabashi; where locals go for kitchen utensil shopping. Next, visit the world- renowned Asakusa Sensoji temple and Nakamise street. Late afternoon, go to the nearby district to view the Skytree.
October 4 – TOKYO – YOKOHAMA (B)
This morning we will go to Kamakura, a pleasant seaside town which is about a 1 hour pleasant drive. We will visit sights including Big Buddha and Hase Kannon Temple featuring Japanese garden. Next, travel into the town centre, Komachi where you will find many restaurants and cafes, discover local delights and souvenirs. This afternoon, enroute to Tokyo, will take a detour to Yokohama.
October 5 – TOKYO (B)
Free at leisure. Why not visit Tokyo Disney Resort or wander, eat and shop till your hearts content at Shinjuku, Shinbuya, harajuku and Ometesando.
October 6 – TOKYO – HAKONE (B,D)
This morning, leave Tokyo for a scenic pirate ship cruise at Hakone. Next, proceed to Mt Fuji region. If the weather permits, you will travel up to 5th station for a panoramic view up at the mountain. This evening, relax and enjoy Japanese ryokan hospitality near Fuji regions, featuring Kaiseki dinner and onsen. Overnight stay at Kouyurou Ikawa Resort.
OCTOBER 7 – MISHIMA – MATSUMOTO (B,D)
Check out of resort and make a brief stop at Mishima for an optional Skywalk if the weather is clear. If time permits, we will make a brief stop at Oshino Hakkai, a small cultural village. Afterwards, we travel up north to Matsumoto for the night. Overnight at Matsumoto Kagetsu Hotel.
OCTOBER 8 – SHIRAKAWAGO – TAKAYAMA (B,D)
This morning, we visit Matsumoto Castle; built in 1592. Next, we will go to Shirakawago, which became a UNESCO Heritage Site in 1995. It is famous for their traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses, Afternoon, head to Takayam, a well preserved old town. Overnight and relax at one of the best Ryokan resorts Enjoy the sumptuous Kaiseki dinner featuring Hida Beef at the hotel. Overnight at Hida Plaza Hotel.
OCTOBER 9 – NAGOYA (B,D)
Enjoy an early morning walk at one of the morning markets. One is along the river and the other is in front of Jinja. You can find a variety of local produce, fruits, vegetables, and local crafts. After lunch, continue to Nagoya for city tour. This evening, enjoy the local delicacy of Unagi rice set. Overnight JAL City Hotel Nagoya.
OCTOBER 10 – KYOTO (B,D)
This morning, visit one of the best automobile museums in Japan, the entrance is included for Toyota Automobile and Techno Museum. Continue your journey to Kyoto. visit to Kiyomizu-dera temple, which was founded in 780 which then declared as UNESCO Heritage site in 1994. The structure is famed for its wooden stage that is built on 13 metres. This evening feast on the local delicacy of Yu-Tofu hot pot. Overnight at ANA Crowne Plaza Kyoto.
OCTOBER 11 – KYOTO (B)
Free at leisure. You may wander around to visit more shrines and temples. To name a few: Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion), Heian Shrine, Imperial Palace or Fushimi Inari. Or you may wish to explore the Gion district. Alternatively, you may venture to Arashiyama.
OCTOBER 12 – KOBE (B)
Depart for Kobe, brief city tour, sightseeing at places such as Kitano, Rokko hill lookout, Harbourland & Chinatown. Next, we travel to Himeji castle, also known as White Heron Castle due to its elegant, white appearance, is considered as Japan’s most spectacular castle. The castle is both a national treasure and a world heritage site, it was never destroyed by war, earthquake or fire and survives to this day as one of the country’s twelve original castles. Overnight at Granvia Hotel Okayama.
OCTOBER 13 – HIROSHIMA (B,D)
Depart for Hiroshima. Take a ferry across to the island of Miyajima, (the renovation of Tori gate will start from June 2019, the gate will be covered up by scaffolding). The tour will feature Itsukushima shrine which built over water. Check out nearby shops & restaurants featuring local delight of oysters. In the afternoon, we return to the mainland of Hiroshima. Visit the World Peace Park and Atomic Dome. Tonight enjoy the local delicacy of Okonomiyaki. Overnight at ANA Crowne Hotel Hiroshima.
OCTOBER 14 – HIROSHIMA – OSAKA (B,L)
Morning free at your leisure. Before noon, take a bullet train to Osaka. Upon arrival in Osaka, proceed to hands-on to make your own Takoyaki with guidance from restaurant staff. Thereafter, do the castle tour, Shinsekai, Namba, Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori. Overnight at Elsereine Hotel Osaka.
OCTOBER 15 – DEPART FOR HOME (B)
Morning free for last minute exploration. Depart in early afternoon for airport for flights home.
